Community Service

Community service is a familiar activity for retired teachers. Having given many years of their service to the community during their professional lives, teachers have made a tradition of extending this spirit of "giving" into their retirement years. The Evansville Retired Teachers Assocition (ERTA) jointly with the Indiana Retired Teachers Association provides opportunites for retired teachers to to continue their interest and involvement in the community. For the year 2007 it was reported that ERTA retired teachers donated 41,457 hours to their community! This year teachers can report their community service to Jack Weatherholt, Community Service Chairperson. The following guidelines should be keep in mind:
1. These hours are not for pay or for family.
2. Can include travel time to activity.
3. Can include calling for groups.
4. Keep track of hours on a calendar or notebook.
5. The volunteer form will be mailed to you in the October "Gazette."
6. Forms are due on or before the December meeting---December 9, 2010to Jack Weatherholt.
